High maintenance? Not so much.

Every single day I go to pick up Phin from the child care at the gym, the child care provider is holding him. I always feel a little guilty, like she's (it's a different lady each day of the week) holding him because he's an only child who requires too much personal attention. I ask him "Phin, are you being too high maintenance?" while he's in her arms beaming at me.
The lady today told me what is REALLY happening.
You see, Phin will be in the swing or the jumpie chair or on the floor (on a blanket that I provided) and he will -ALMOST- be asleep and one of two little girls (who are toddlers) will walk up to him and pluck his soother (binki) from his mouth - which will wake him up. They will then proceed to play with his binki - which is tethered to his clothing via a binki clip which will annoy him and - ahhhh, he's picked up by the child care provider and here we have it.... It looks like Phin is the trouble maker. :)

I am happy to know he's so perfect!

(As I put him in his car seat while he slept today one of the little girls came to pluck the binki from his mouth and she said that "Binkis are for babies!" I asked her - "Is this a baby or a little boy?" She said "He's a BABY!" I said, "So, he can have his binki then, because he's a baby - right?" She said "Yes." However, with that said, I expect her to be plucking his binki again tomorrow. That's just a little kid for you - huh.

Phin plays

We pulled out this toy that MaryAnn gave us.
Phin likes it. He plays with the big ball - although, the smaller toys overwhelm him right now.

In this other picture, you can see that Phin has started to *understand* his soother.
He likes to take it out of his mouth and try to put it back in. Sometimes, he actually gets it BACK into his mouth, but then, he accidentally pulls it out again - and then feels tricked.

It seemed cold out this morning

when I dressed Phin for church.
I hope he wasn't too hot (I was, wearing a sweater.)

Happy Sunday!

While Phin was in the hospital, they gave him a little blue and white striped hat to wear. It was cute and I loved it and then we lost it! They had also given him a knitted hat - but his head was too big for it - so I asked Phin's daddy to pick up a hat or two at the store on his way back up to the hospital. Phin's daddy actually found a three pack of hats - which impressed me a LOT! The thing is, the hats were bigger than Phin's head.
Grandma Susie will remember - we had hats that were too small and hats that were too big...

Today, I tried one of the hats on Phin. You see, it got pretty cool here last night and I left some of the windows open in the house and I was afraid he may get too cool. I put one of the hats on him and GUESS WHAT! Now, at 5 1/2 weeks old, the hat fits like a charm! It's too bad it's supposed to be warm for the rest of the week. I would have a hat on Phin EVERY DAY!

Then, this afternoon, I took Phin for his first stroll. I made him ride in the stroller like he was a big boy or something because I could not figure out how to get the car seat attached to the stroller (though, I figured it out immediately when we got back from our walk!)
Phin enjoyed the walk, I think. He slept the whole time - except for once when he woke up without his binki in his mouth. We fixed that quickly and he was again out!
I am not sure about SUN SCREEN for Phin - as in what to use. He has my complexion and I don't want him to burn up! Luckily, we visit the pediatrician next week - and I am sure they can tell me what to use. Until then, we'll just do the best we can!
