just another day at home...

and I guess there are people who would hate doing this, but I truly love it.
We wore our jammies today. Isaac took them off when it was time to eat, but the rest of the time, he was jammed up too!
Phin soothed his brother when he heard him making sounds. A little Phin hand on his belly and the sound of Phin saying "shhh" is all it took to calm him down.

Phin enjoyed his daily reading...

Baby brother is currently still rocking the blue eyes.

All bets are off!

Phin was on his blanket with toys all around.
I was sitting at the mac in front of the coffee table.
... and I hear this... crinkling.
THAT was the moment that I understood that everything had changed.

I felt a BUMP at my foot and looked down and saw THIS.

I guess he's interested in learning about computers - like his daddy (this is the mac cord that he pulled out of the computer.)

Baby proofing will be finished TONIGHT!

Thursday and Mama's sick so Phin's pickin' his own clothes...

This morning, Phin was happy to hang out in his diaper. Yes, it was in the teens outside, but the house was warm and cozy and Phin enjoys showing skin!

This afternoon, we had enough energy to put on a "proper outfit".

Really, he's BIG!

I have been sending pictures of Phin to his Daddy who will be home in just a few more days! Tonight, on the phone, I asked Daddy what he thought of Phin's growth. He said it's hard to tell really because there is nothing to compare this size to. After discussing it, we decided that I should photograph Phin on his changing table - as Daddy remembers how big Phin was then. (I have told Daddy about how now Phin kicks his diaper wipe box each time I change him...). Notice in this picture that we have let out his diapers by one snap - that started on Nov 6, 2008 - but this is the first picture of the new snap...

Phin wasn't taking direction really well about stretching his legs out for Daddy, so, finally when I dressed him again, he stretched out!

And then, we went back to the sock monkey for scale.

You can click HERE to see his size prior.

In OTHER NEWS, I weighed Phin tonight. I did this by weighing myself with and without Phin and subtracting the difference. My home scale says that he weighs 16 lbs 2 oz and that was with a clean diaper and his blue jammies. So, I would say he's around 16 lbs. (Auntie Annan told me tonight that 2.5 year old cousin Given weighs 34 lbs. - WOW!)

Phin's 1st Univeristy Lecture!

Today, Phin went to Mizzou to attend a lecture on Pediatric Physical Therapy. Connie, the instructor, named Phin as a "Junior Faculty Member" as he demonstrated "typical newborn behavior" to the PT students. As normal for Phin, he was much more interested in his sleep than all of the interesting stuff in the class!

Update 08-31-08

My mac is still "in the shop."
My hands are still numb...

I have a lot of catching up to do and will work on adding pictures as soon as my hands are the mac are back in working order!

But here is a picture taken of Aunt Ann-an and Grandma Susie with Phin yesterday:

(Note the SOCK MONKEY that Aunt Ann-an found for Phin. Since I was pregnant, I have been looking for a sock monkey online. Yesterday Aunt-Annan mentioned a place here in town where they were for sale! We got one straight away! I know Phin doesn't really care, but I am super excited! This will also be cool for him to be able to see how tiny he used to be (the same size as the sock monkey at 23 days old!) when he's a big kid!)

This is Aunt Ann-an with Phin this morning before she left to take her fight back home:

Note how he looks a little sad - wishing his Aunt Ann-an could stay longer!

AND, here is what is happening with Phin right now:

I will update more often ASAP!!!

Square Dance!

Dan has some rules about clothing - most specifically - Dan and I can't wear matching clothes (colors) when we are out. If we both have on, say, the same color of green shirt - Dan will say "We are not going to a square dance!" and one of us will have to change into a different color.
It seems, as shown below, that Dan and Phin can be matchy matchy and it's just cute father - son stuff!

Grandpa Jerry

Grandparents Routier brought Phin some baby bibs.
Today is his first doctor appointment for his one week checkup.

He changed from the woof outfit into a cute green turtle outfit with a matching green diaper.

We wanted to make sure he would stay spit-up free, so grandma put a bib on him to keep him clean for the doctor.

Phin's Grandpa Jerry loves him and Phin loves his Grandpa Jerry

BOO TAY

We were repeatedly told how naive we were - as new parents when we spoke of our decision to use re-usable diapers for Phin. Well, so far, I am happy to report that I kinda love these diapers.
Granted, they are more than a little HUGE on Phin right now. But, let me tell you, they are working out really well and the washing isn't a big deal.

At the end of the day, all I can say is "MY BABY'S GOT BACK!"

Blow OUT!

In the wee hours of the early morning, the night nurse (Ann, I believe) brought me a baby that smelled Johnson & Johnson fresh! When I commented on how good he smelled, she told me the truth.
Last night, while in the nursery, my little baby had a "complete blowout" in his diaper.
Turns out, there was human bio substances all over the place, and yet, little Phin wasn't so much worried about the mess. He was sleeping right through it.
Nurse Ann ordered up a bath straight away and brought me a sweet smelling baby.
Thank you Nurse Ann!

We will both be discharged later on this morning.
Happy Sunday and your first day out of the hospital Phin!
